Theatre and Foyer Specifications
The building’s unique design and accessibility make the City Theatre perfect for theatrical performances, seminars, corporate events, musical presentations, Concerts, Award Ceremonies, Fashion shows, exhibitions and more.
The City Theatre is a state-of–the-art theatre redesigned to offer more commodities to both the producers and the audience. Here are theatre specifications that can be accustomed to the producer’s needs.
Seating Capacity
The City Theatre has a seating capacity of 650approx. Theatre style, 250pax classroom style, 100pax u-shape or boardroom style, 250pax banquet and 500pax cocktail. The chairs are burgundy red with a silver lining. However chairs are moveable and can be set according to the production`s requirements. Besides the normal seating plan, the theatre can be set up to accommodate round tables for 10 pax or even smaller tables for 4pax.
Special Tearing Floor
Each tile is specifically designed to level according to the client`s needs. It is ideal for product launches, experimental theatre, Theatre style tearing, glass flooring etc.
The Stage
The Stage dimensions are:
- Stage Width – 11 metres of acting floor
- Depth of stage – 7 metres
- Up to 60 Extendable Stage – 1m X 2m platforms are available for different setups including catwalks, elevations etc.
- 10 dressing rooms are available with shower facilities, plus a common area with make- up mirrors, and other commodities.
Patch Bays
The City Theatre has 9 patch bays distributed in different areas of the theatre to minimise the use of showing cables. Each patch bay has speaker connections, data, sound connections and DMX. Everything is linked and controlled from the control room and they can be also operated from the fixed areas i.e:
- 5 patch bays in the Lower Level.
- 1 patch bay in the Balcony
- 3 patch bays on Stage.
- Accessibility
The theatre has a lift adjacent which carries 8 people at a time, making the theatre wheel chair accessible. A separate service area is available also to unload scenery, props etc.
Air Conditioned
Theatre is equipped with air conditioning and full ventilating system in theatre and backstage.
Security
The City Theatre is safely furnished with fire-extinguishers, Fire Doors, Fire Hydrants and 3 Emergency exits.
Technical Details
Sound
City Theatre boasts an ultimate sound system fixed in place covering every area of the Theatre. This is programmed with a delay to perfectly cover back seats and balcony alike. The equipment also includes sub bias speakers together with mid-high cabinets to cater for full range systems when needed. Everything is localised to a fixed control room, where everything is fully controlled by a digital Mixer. The control room is the hub of all wiring. This innovation is totally different to what exists in other theatres and halls around the island, thus enabling technical people to concentrate their work within one room and once again limiting the use of extra cabling, which is considered as an eye sore. The system is mastered by a 16 channel PRO digital mixer, the YAMAHA 01V which is easily upgradeable to a 32 channel when needed. The system is designed to be on a plug and play basis thus making it easy for everyone to use. Out technical people from Twilight Sound Systems will make sure that your sound is perfect.
Lights
The theatre lighting installation comprises sixty dimming channels, six of which are dimming the auditorium lighting and another twelve channels are patchable into the auditorium floor to have the capability to use the auditorium floor as part of your performing area! The remaining channels are distributed among four trusses. The three overhead trusses on the stage: the Cyc stage, the Mid Truss and the Front Truss, and also the Front of House Truss. The three stage trusses have also a DMX line on each one of them, ready for any intelligent lighting you wish to add on for your show. There are various Utility panels in the theatre. These are distributed in all corners of the stage and also in all corners of the auditorium giving one a wide technical flexibility that one’s show requires! There are in all nine utility panels from which Audio and DMX (lighting) data can be sent and received and also UTP data connectors for all one’s Audio, Video or Network data transmission patchable anywhere on the stage and auditorium. Thanks to this data distribution and a total of 4096 dmx channels available to be distributed anywhere in the theatre. This installation makes this location a heaven for all technical people working here!

A projection system is set up in place.
Stage Drapes
The Stage Drapes were manufactured by world renowned company JC Joel. The drapes installation comprises of the front motorised Front Curtain, three sets of Black legs and valance on stage, a White Cyclorama and Black Cyclorama at the back of the stage and Black Mid Curtain. We have also installed four track and trolley systems to easily strike in and out any scenery drapes you would like to use during your shows.
Hanging points
City Theatre also offers 3 hanging points…..1 in the centre of the theatre, and another 2 hanging points on each side of the stage.
The Foyer
The Foyer which has its entrance in Old Bakery Street is a modern designed hall to accomodate comfortably guests who are attending for a performance in the City Theatre. Besides this, the Foyer can easily accomodate various activities such as weddings, parties, conferences and other functions. Whether you are organising a small function for thirty people or a seminar for two hundred persons, every function is treated individually so that we can arrange our facilities to suit your exact requirements.
